PRESS RELEASE: LIBRETTO PUBLISHERS TO PUBLISH SARZCROSANCT

Introducing “Sarzcrosanct”: A Gripping Play That Explores the Betrayal and Redemption of Nigeria’s Youth-Led Movement Against Police Brutality.

We are proud to announce the release of “Sarzcrosanct”, a powerful and timely new play book that delves into the heart of Nigeria’s #EndSARS movement. Written by Emmanuel Olabayo, this poignant work is both a reflection and a tribute to the brave voices of Nigerian youth who stood united against police brutality, demanding justice and systemic reform.

Sarzcrosanct is not just a piece of literature; it is a clarion call for freedom, human rights, and accountability. Set against the backdrop of one of the largest protests in Nigeria’s recent history, the play brings to life the stories of those who rallied for change, spotlighting the deep emotions, struggles, and sacrifices that defined the #EndSARS movement. Through vivid characters and sharp dialogue, Sarzcrosanct explores the complex intersection of power, resistance, and the unyielding demand for justice.

About the Book:
Sarzcrosanct, coined from the word Sacrosanct. The first draft was written in 2019 when the #ENDSARZ campaign was only an online movement. The play questions why the activities of the members of SARZ Unit of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) are unchallengeable. The play condemns police brutality and advocates for a total reform of the NPF.

Sarzcrosanct challenges its readers to engage with the realities of injustice and oppression, while offering a glimpse of hope and resilience. It speaks to anyone who has ever fought for a cause, demanding a better world.

Sarzcrosanct will be available for purchase at Libretto Bookstores, major bookstores nationwide, Amazon and online platforms on 11th November, 2024. Readers, activists, and those interested in contemporary social issues are encouraged to dive into this raw and compelling narrative.
