LIVE CONVERSATION WITH IQUO DIANAABASI

On May 14th, Libretto Publishers will be in conversation with Iquo DianaAbasi on Saturday, May 14th, 2022 as part of our Literary Sessions, Hangout and Interview Series. The hour-long session to be hosted live on Google Meets, will be centered on UNBOWED & UNBROKEN: THE DAWN OF AFRICAN WOMEN’S LITERATURE.

About Iquo DianaAbasi:

Iquo DianaAbasi is a creative writer, performer and social activist. She writes prose, poetry and scripts for radio and screen. Her writings explore social issues, womanhood, the environment and the need to embrace our humanity as a precursor to healing.

Her short story collection, Èfó Rírò and Other Stories was released in 2020 to much acclaim. Her first poetry collection, Symphony of Becoming, was longlisted for the NLNG Nigeria prize for literature, the ANA poetry prize, and the Wole Soyinka Prize for Literature.

Iquo is known to perform her poems with a touch of Ibibio folklore. Stages she has graced include: Pa Gya! Arts Festival, Lagos International Poetry Festival, Ake Arts and Book Festival, The Big60 Cultural Exchange, Wole Soyinka @80, Lagos Black Heritage Festival, The Macmillan Literary night, PLAY Poetry Festival and more.

Her writings appear in African Literature Today, Poetry potion, Kalahari review, AfricaInWords, Saraba magazine, Ebedi Review, ANA Review, and Olisa.tv. She has also been featured in several print and online poetry anthologies.

Iquo resides in Lagos, where she has just completed work on a second volume of poetry, and edits the African speculative fiction magazine, omenana.com.

The virtual event will be live streamed in Google meets in Nigeria.
