The Rain is Coming By Buchi Maduka

The rain is coming,

This I said to myself,

As I felt the whistle nigh.

The rain is coming;

This I said to myself,

As I felt the tremble near.

The rain is coming;

This I said to myself,

As I heard the wind scowl.

The rain is coming;

This I said to myself,

As I felt soothing cascades,

Wash streaming drops from my sight.

The rain is here;

This I said to myself,

As I felt searing splash

 Rend the barrenness upon which I rode.

The rain is here;

This I said to myself,

As I watched the falling spring wash off infertility,

And the bleak sky breaking into a new dawn.
